Having bagged the Fundraising Stall at the Farmers’ Market on 3rd December (which coincided with Deveron Projects’ 21st birthday), we set up our gazebo in a rather cold Square at 8am. Our stall featured Huntly Writers, Orb’s Bookshop and Handmade in Huntly, and provided a showcase for all three groups to promote their wares. We had a good morning in terms of sales of our anthologies – the most recent, ‘Open With Care’ and our previous anthology, ‘Weaving Words’ – and there was a lot of interest in Ron Brander’s hot-off-the-press book, ‘Over the Hills from Huntly’, which we also sold several copies of. Jo Roberts of Handmade in Huntly also had a successful day with sales of her beautifully crafted items. Unsuspecting but appreciative passers-by, both young and old, were given a given a free Christmas present in the shape of a book (thanks to all the volunteers who selected and wrapped these over recent weeks) from Orb’s stock of quality second-hand books. We enjoyed helping Deveron Projects celebrate their birthday over the course of the morning – and Maureen’s and Mary’s hand-held signs for Orb’s Bookshop have featured in the mass photo taken in the Square later in the morning! All in all, an enjoyable and profitable day.
